New: process and pay paper invoices without payment slip

We are launching a new app release this week, which makes it possible to automatically process paper invoices without payment slip. You simply take a picture of the invoice: POM will recognize all the payment data and subsequently prompt the possibility to pay with your mobile phone. No need to retype anything and you don't need a card reader either.

Thanks to this update it is now possible to manage and pay all your invoices (whatever its format) with your mobile phone - whether you receive them on paper with or without payment slip, or digitally as a PDF file.

Invoice payments easier thanks to machine learning

"We are taking the next step on our mission to make invoice payments easier and more enjoyable for everyone," says Johannes Vermeire, co-founder and CEO of POM. "Quite some organizations in fact do not include the pink payment slip on the invoices they send to their customers. The POM app is now able to recognize and process the payment data on that type of documents (make sure there is enough light - enable the camera flash if necessary - and the printing quality of the invoice is good)."

"The more people will start using the new service, the more the system performance will go up. The technology behind it is self-learning: each time an invoice is processed via POM, the mechanism to recognize payment data gets optimized. This way, machine learning is being deployed to fully serve our users."

Another new feature in this release is the possibility to upload PDF invoices directly into the POM app or to share them with the app from a PDF-reader. It was previously possible already to forward PDF invoices via e-mail into the app.

The new release is available for free in the App Store and on Google Play.

Step by step: how does it work?

• You would like to pay a paper invoice without payment slip:
  
  • Open the POM app.
  • Choose ‘Add your invoice’.
  • Take a picture of your invoice (note: for paper invoices with payment slip, we advise to use the scan functionality).
  • POM will retrieve the necessary data, like the bank account number, statement and amount to pay.
  • Pay the invoice via Bancontact or Sign2Pay.
    
    
• You would like to upload a PDF invoice into the app:
  
  • Open the POM app.
  • Choose ‘Add your invoice’.
  • Upload your PDF invoice: choose a file on your device or share it with POM from a PDF-reader.
  • POM will retrieve the necessary data, like the bank account number, statement and amount to pay.
  • Pay the invoice via Bancontact or Sign2Pay.
